The wettest summer for some time went from bad to worse yesterday as the A709 road from Dumfries to Lockerbie had to be closed just before Lochmaben due to land slides caused by the heavy rain.  I also heard of houses at the Park near Closeburn being flooded, and as far as I know, they are nowhere near a river!
