Lochside

On your left as you leave Dumfries on the Kilmarnock road, after the by-pass, sits Lochside. Dumfries' biggest estate (I think), is a mixture of ex council houses up to about 4 storey flats. It has many facilities, including primary schools, a secondary school, pubs, shops etc (and McDonalds!). There are undoubtedly some 'problem areas' on the estate, but if you research it properly, you'll be able to find plenty decent, afordable housing in nice areas.
