The Only Survivor

The Only Team In The Bible launched initially just to be a page about Queens Challenge Cup Final against Falkirk, which, although we lost 1-0, was one of the greatest days in Queens history. However, having been a 'part-time supporter' for a few years, I was bitten once again by the bug. I then discovered that Rowan Alexander had taken over writing the match day program as he did not like some of the stuff being said, so I decided to keep the site going as a voice for the fans.

1997/1998 - The Early Days

When I first started the site, there was only one other site being regularly updated, 'A View From The Kennel', run by Colin Johnstone, who would go on to run the Official Site.

My site took it's name from the song which played as Queens ran onto the pitch, which in turn took it's name from the fact that Queen of The South are the only football team mentioned in the bible (I've no idea where Colin got the name for his site!). I always tried to have a bit of humour built in, I felt Colin was much better at facts than I was, but I was quite good at rumours!

As well as reaching the Challenge Cup Final, Queens finished 4th in Division 2, which given the strength of squad we had that year, was pretty poor. I would still put the blame for us failing to gain promotion that year firmly with the manager. To make matters worse, Stranraer won the league and were promoted.

In those early days, the site was basically just one page with a report done on each game I was at. Click on the reports link below to read them.

I'm working on building a historic data base of players, click on the Squad link to see any I've already done for this season.

Click on Fixtures to see Queens results for season 1997/1998.
